The Little Christmas Story Book Audio CD
Narrated by Arthur Silber, Jr.
Never in the history of mankind has a person's birth had a deeper, more
lasting effect, or influenced the lives of the peoples of the world more than the
Nativity. The world's greatest and most famous masterpieces have been
inspired by it. In some, the story of the Advent of Christ has inspired deep
spirituality, yet in others, pensiveness and brooding. In essence, all of them
are merely telling their own story, in their own way, of the peace of man and
good will towards men, and glory to God in the highest.

Over the period of hundreds of years there have been many stories of
Christmas, but most were limited to stories from the American and English
authors. However, in this little book are some stories from around the world,
from some of its greatest authors. We hope you will enjoy the sample
excursions that we are providing for your enjoyment, in the hopes that you
may find your own peace and good will which is in all of us, if we but look for it
in our hearts.

Come with me while we walk through a grove of balsam trees. You’ll notice that the young trees are silent. They are
listening, because the old ones, especially the firs, are whispering. They’re telling the story of the tree that didn’t get
trimmed. It sounds like a painful story, and the murmur of the old trees as they tell it is rather solemn, but it is an
encouraging story for young saplings to hear.

All the fir trees, as you know, dream of being a Christmas tree someday, and with the vision of that brightness and
gaiety before them, they patiently endure the sharp sting of the axe and the long hours pressed together in trucks or
freight cars. But every December there are more trees cut down than are needed for Christmas.

The tree in this story should never have been cut. If you would like to find out what happened to this tree and the
delights heard on Christmas Eve, then please ask Story Time Records to send you the complete manuscript. In it you
will find all the things which are missing in your life, but are found on one of the holiest nights of all: love, kindness and
bringing peace into each other's lives.
This is the strangest Christmas tale I have to tell. It's about a mysterious well. A
deep, deep well which lay in the center of a dark forest. No one knew why that
well was there, not who dug it, nor how old it was.

The peasants form the villages around stood in great awe of the well because,
from its depths weird sounds could be heard: a moan, half-sob; and sometimes a
sound as though someone were knocking against its sides. It made you think of a
lost soul in distress and unable to get out.
It was a cold and windy night as Martin, the shoemaker sat in his little basement room, in which there was but one window. This
window looked out onto the street, and through it the people could be seen as they passed by it. Though only the feet were
visible, Martin could tell the men by their books. "Hmphf!" said Martin. "This man lived for a long time in one place and had
many acquaintances. The boots this man wears are rare; very rare." Other shoes had passed Martin’s window needed patches,
or to be resoled, but one of the men who passed by in his boots got Martin to thinking.

Do you think it was Santa Claus who walked past Martin’s window? Would you like to hear the stories of Martin and his kindness
towards those who are in need, especially at Christmas? You can, and you will, find a spiritual presence within your heart and
goose bumps on your arms, as you ponder special thoughts which you will only find in "Martin, the Shoemaker".

There are lessons to be learned from the mysterious well: Everything is nothing ‘til you make it something more,Because if you are
pessimistic, everything will be a chore.

And if you’re apathetic, why you will surely see.  In all the things you say and do, mediocrity.  But with enthusiasm things take on a
brighter glow.  For everything is special if you only make it so!  Humans were made to run on love and we don’t function well on anything
else. We hope you will find this adventurous and mystifying story one that gives you a happy holiday
